Danny Hooper, the popular Alberta recording artist and sixteen-time host
and MC of the Big Valley Jamboree, is thrilled to be bringing almost
thirty-five years experience as an entertainer to the Morning Show at
CFCW.
Last fall he and partner Sharon Mallon were named the CCMA ‘Radio
Personalities of the Year-Major Market’.
"This job is a dream come true!" says Hooper, who acknowledges he has
some big shoes to fill. "Bev Munro and Wes Montgomery taught me more
about entertaining than anyone will ever know!”
Danny's history with CFCW goes back a long way. His father Don and
CFCW’s Curly Gurlock were partners in promoting Grand Ole Opry shows in
Alberta back in the 50’s and 60’s. Danny’s music career officially began
in 1975 as a finalist in CFCW's first annual Country Star Search; the
trophy he won is still proudly displayed in his home today. He and
father Don went on to open the hugely successful Danny Hooper's
Stockyard in 1979, and many listeners will remember the live CFCW
Saturday night broadcasts from the club.
And what's the best thing about his job as the newest co-host of CFCW’s
morning show?
"Being able to wake up with Sharon Mallon each morning yet not having to
sleep with her!” chuckles Hooper.
Please, don’t take our word for it! Danny has participated in literally thousands of fundraising auctioneer events over the years.
