Being an Auctioneer
In the highly specialized world of fundraising auctioneering, Danny Hooper is in a class of his own. In fact, Peter Kent of Global TV News calls him "the Robin Williams of fundraising auctioneers!" Not only does Danny's razor-sharp wit and unabashed sense of humor set him apart from everybody else in the business, but he also brings a very clear sense of purpose to every fundraising auction he does, a purpose he sees as three-fold.

Being an Entertainer
Vision and focus are Danny
Hooper's trademarks. He is a
classic Western Canadian
entrepreneur - a true risk
taker.
Those qualities appeared early.
As described in his 1995 song
"John Deere Tractor Keys," young
Danny would scheme for hours
about leaving home to seek his
fame and fortune as he worked in
the fields of the family ranch
near Tomahawk, Alberta.
That vision in mind, Danny
developed his talent by
entertaining at socials and
dances with his three-piece band
called the Hayloft Rangers. He
was a finalist in a CFCW radio
talent contest that led to a
recording contract with Royalty
Records and a 1976 Juno
nomination for Best New Male
Vocalist.

Danny Hooper, the popular
Alberta recording artist and
thirteen-time host and MC of the
Big Valley Jamboree, is thrilled
to be bringing over thirty years
experience as an entertainer to
the Morning Show at CFCW.
"This job is a dream come true!"
says Hooper, who acknowledges he
has some big shoes to fill. "Bev
Monro and Wes Montgomery taught
me more about entertaining than
anyone will ever know!.
Danny's music career officially
began in 1975 as a finalist in
CFCW's first annual Country Star
Search; the trophy he won is
proudly displayed in his home.
He and father Don went on to
open the hugely successful Danny
Hooper's Stockyard in 1979, and
many listeners will remember the
live CFCW Saturday night
broadcasts from the club.
And what's the best thing about
the new job? "Being able to wake
up with Sharon Mallon each
morning yet not having to sleep
with her!", chuckles Hooper.
