Are you still in Real Estate?
No - I was with RE/MAX in the 1980's and early 1990's but I had to get back to the entertainmnet business which I love so much. It is surprising how many people associate me with the realty business and not the entertainment industry and still think that I sell real estate which I have not since 1995.
NOTE: Danny joined RE/MAX in 1987 and after three and a half years, he was inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame placing in the TOP 75 out of over 30,000 RE/MAX Associates; in 1991, he was named RE/MAX Realtor of the Year. From 1992 through 1995 Danny traveled extensively across North America conducting motivational and sales training seminars for RE/MAX and other Real Estate Companies.

Current book you are reading?
Currently I am reading Confessions of a Late Night Talk Host by Garry Shandling. I write in my journal everyday so I probably write more than I read. During the spring season I enjoy looking through lanscaping and plant books finding flower ideas for the backyard. With the morning radio show I now make sure I read the daily newspapers to keep up on current events.

Did you attend auction school?
Yes I attended the Western College of Auctioneering in Billings, Montana. Not only is it a first class auction school but it is also serves as a great course in character building.
But I actually learned how to auction many years before from my Uncle Wes Spencer (not really my uncle but a close family friend). Uncle Wes was Spencer Auctions Ltd. a very well respected auction company in Alberta. Wes is past president of the Auctioneers Association of Alberta and Auctioneers Association of Canada.

How do you like being a radio DJ?
Love it! I love working with Sharon Mallon every morning on CFCW 790 AM. Being on radio every morning keeps me sharp and up to date on what is happening in the world which adds to the events I emcee. As for the 4:30 AM alarm clock that is another story.......

Only if you have read a book by Donald S. Passmore called "Everything You Need To Know About the Music Business" and after I quiz you on it. This is what I tell anyone who wants to send any material because if you take the time to read this book then I know you are serious about this business.

Tell me about Danny Hooper's Stockyard.
My dad Don Hooper and I opened Danny Hooper's Stockyard in an old church in Edmonton in 1979 and brought some of the best country music entertainers to our nightclub. It was a great 6 years and there are so many memories. I have often thought about writing a book on the Stockyard Years and including all the great times, photos and stories which would take many people back to those days. It is hard to find a country music fan around Alberta who does not have a Stockyard memory.

Who are your favorite entertainers?
Mel, Merle, Johnny, Willie all the good old boys. People may be surprised to know that I love Tony Bennett, B.B. King and I attended a Van Morrison concert and was blown away by the guy, my absolute favoite is Dean Martin. Also anyone who sings Christmas songs, I start playing them in October or anytime I am depressed!!!!

Who is Danny Hooper
I am an entertainer first and foremost. Whether it be emcee, auctioneer, comedian, counrty music singer or radio DJ I love to entertain and bring some joy and laughter into the world. I love to make people laugh and hopfully that takes theirs minds off of their troubles for a time.
