Master of Entertainment
It’s hard to believe that after 50 years in the entertainment business Danny Hooper is still at the top of his game.
Having already logged more than 40,000 hours behind a microphone as a professional Master of Ceremonies, Certified Fundraising Auctioneer, Comedian, Award-winning Radio Personality, Television Host, Brand Ambassador, Podcaster, and Recording Artist, he still appears at up to 100 events each year.
A magnetic personality, off-beat sense of humor, and razor-sharp wit are the main ingredients in Danny’s “secret sauce.” His experience onstage as a multi-platform performer is unequaled, his credentials unassailable. Proud and protective of his reputation as an elite entertainer, he continues to serve a Blue-Chip client list of businesses, associations, foundations, and organizations, many of whom have been employing his services for 20 consecutive years or longer.

Widely regarded as Canada’s top Certified Fundraising Auctioneer, Danny Hooper was the first to receive the distinguished Benefit Auction Specialist (BAS) designation from the U.S. National Auctioneers Association. Shortly thereafter he authored the bestselling book entitled EASY MONEY – How to Generate Record Profits at Your Next Fundraising Auction Event.
Danny serves organizations of every size and scope, from the smallest sport teams, schools, and church groups, on up to the David Foster Foundation and the NFL.
Since 1986 Danny has helped countless non-profit organizations, associations, and foundations raise more than $500,000,000 (that’s right, a half BILLION dollars!) through charity auctions.
Master of Ceremonies
Spend a few minutes with Danny Hooper and it becomes quickly apparent that he was born to entertain, and nowhere is that more evident than when he’s onstage working as a Master of Ceremonies.
At corporate events like Award Ceremonies, Grand Openings, Sales Meetings, Conventions, Conferences, Milestone Anniversary Celebrations, and Customer Appreciation Events, Danny engages and entertains an audience like no other.
By this point in his enviable career Danny has emceed just about every type of event imaginable, and that helps explain his comfort level onstage in front of ANY size of audience.
To that point, Danny recently celebrated his 28th consecutive year as the Main Stage Host & MC of Canada’s largest annual outdoor music festival, the Big Valley Jamboree, with a record attendance of 25,000 country music fans.
Born in Edmonton, AB, and raised on a cattle ranch near the tiny hamlet of Tomahawk, AB, Danny’s career officially began in 1975 as a finalist in CFCW Radio’s first-ever Country Star Search Competition. The prize, a recording contract with Royalty Records, spawned an album that garnered enough national airplay to lead to a 1976 Juno nomination for Danny as Best New Male Vocalist (the award deservedly went to Burton Cummings – you can Google it!)
In 1979 Danny and his father, manager, and business partner Don Hooper opened Edmonton’s first exclusive steakhouse and country music showroom. Called ‘Danny Hooper’s Stockyard,’ it would soon gain a reputation as THE place in town to see major Nashville stars like Merle Haggard, Tom T. Hall, Tammy Wynette, Ray Price, Johnny Paycheck, Ferlin Husky, Freddy Fender, Faron Young, and many more.
Danny has recorded 11 albums, performed on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and for 7 consecutive years at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. While Danny’s career has morphed far beyond the music business, he continues to write and record his own music and entertain with his band at several events each year.

Danny has always had a passion for cooking. At age 15 he worked an entire summer as the bull cook in a 68-man seismic camp high in the Canadian Arctic on Ellesmere Island, not far from the North Pole.
To this day he takes cooking classes and collects cookbooks wherever he travels, which to date has included Bali, Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Portugal, producing episodes from many of these adventures for his cooking channel on YouTube called DANNY HOOPER EDIBLES.
His specialty is open-fire cooking, be it a thick, juicy steak on a charcoal barbeque, or a homemade pizza in his wood-burning oven.
We live a very blessed life. My beautiful wife Barb and I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and each have two children from previous marriages. When we married, Barb’s gift to me included five adorable grandkids whom I have come to love with all my heart.
We also love traveling, entertaining, volunteering at our church, and keeping ourselves in shape so we can continue to enjoy this wonderful, active life for as long as possible.
People often ask when I will retire and to them I say “You never hear a golfer moan ‘I only have to play for two more years and then I can quit.’” When you are as passionate about your work as I am, it doesn’t feel like work. In fact, put a microphone in my hand and it’s PLAYTIME!
My hope is to inspire others to find more enjoyment in their own lives, and to this end I’m active on social media, especially Facebook. If you like what you see, follow us so you don’t miss any of the fun. Blessings, and thanks for visiting my website!
